About Me
Hello! I'm Shannon.
Reuna ("ray-oh-na") means edge or margin in Finnish. As an introvert, I have always preferred the edges rather than being in the center of things. However, in order to grow, I've had to step away from those edges and out of that comfort zone. So the word Reuna reminds me (and hopefully you) that in order to see positive change, in any aspect of life, we've got to step out of that comfort zone.
I'm a science-nerd with a goofy sense of humor and a touch of cheerleader who knows more 90s rap and hip-hop than one would first assume. I found my path to a more fitness-focused lifestyle over a decade ago thanks to a friend. While the journey hasn't been linear, it has been educational, fulfilling, challenging, and (mostly) fun! I'm passionate about helping women who've been away from exercise for a while and want a trainer who will meet them where they are. I'm a proponent of the ditch the scale movement and prefer to focus on other means of measuring progress. I've been told I can kick butt but I'm really nice about it.
I am an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer. I have also completed the Girls Gone Strong Pre- and Postnatal Coaching Certification as well the Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coaching Certification. Every year, I spend time on continuing education courses, webinars, and reading relevant books so you get the quality training you deserve.

A few more tidbits about me: I'm married. I don't have children. I'm in my 40s. I'm an army brat who lived in Germany twice but barely remembers it! I was a biology major in college. I adore dogs. I adopted Scooby in 2002 and had 14 wonderful years with him. I adopted Chase and Dude in 2016 from Rescue One, an amazing local rescue here in Springfield. Currently, I have two dogs: Dude is still with me, and Twinkie, adopted in 2023.
I created Reuna Fitness LLC because I was inspired by the women in my life. As I have gotten older, I have realized being physically active is about SO MUCH MORE than physical appearance...it's heath, strength, independence, and confidence. I am interested in helping you find your way to fitness so you can have a happier, healthier life now and in the future!
